Lexington Resident Worked With The City Of Lexington

James Henry (Jimmy) Moore Jr., 73, of Lexington, Virginia, died Sunday, January 16, 2022 at his home after a six-year battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.

Born April 25, 1948 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late James Henry Moore Sr. and Marion Frances Lotts Moore.

In earlier years, James attended Grace Presbyterian Church.

He retired from the city of Lexington after 20 years of service.

Surviving are his wife of over 50 years, Ellen "Faye" Smith Moore; one son, James "Jamie" Henry Moore III (Jessica) of Morgantown, W.Va.; one daughter, Natalie "Niki" Nicole Irvine of Dublin; two brothers, David and Danny; and four grandchildren, Jonathan Irvine, Sarah Irvine, Luci Moore and Henry Moore.

Due to Covid, at his request, all services will be private. Special thanks to the doctors and staff at UVA for the care given to Jimmy.

A private graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery with Dorsey Hostetter officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Rockbridge Area Hospice or Lexington Fire Department for all their kindness shown to the Moore family.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
