Garten Trucking Employee Dies At Age 53

Hollis Ray Pritt, Jr., age 53, of 4189 Castile Road, Covington, Virginia passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at LewisGale Hospital – Alleghany in Low Moor, Virginia.

He was born February 24, 1968 in Bath County, Virginia to Barbara Ann Jarrett Pritt and the late Hollis Ray Pritt, Sr.

He was a driver for Garten Trucking and enjoyed working, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Patricia Gillispie; paternal grandparents, Riley and Bessie Pritt; and maternal grandparents, Ida and Wyatt Jarrett.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Cherie Gillispie Pritt of Covington; his mother, Barbara Pritt of Hot Springs; a daughter, Lacassa Barrett and husband, Eric of Roanoke and a son, Wyatt "Levi" Pritt of Mt. Solon; two brothers, Michael Jarrett of Covington and Danny Pritt and spouse, Kim Ford of Hot Springs; four grandchildren, Dalton Armentrout, Noel Plecker, Emma Barrett, and Addison Barrett; his father-in-law, David Gillispie; a sister-in-law, Christy Sanders and husband, Chuck; a brother-in-law, Glenn Gillispie and significant other, Sara Ryder; a special sister-in-law, Stephanie Clark; four nieces, Cheyenne Smith and husband, Davey, Sydney Jessee and husband, Christian, Calleigh Sanders, and Chloe Sanders and one nephew, Brayden Gillispie; six great nieces and one great nephew; an uncle, Willie "Junie" Jarrett and wife, Hazel; special family friends, Larry and Cindy Meadows; and other special friends, Lee and Sarah Church, Dizzy Garten, Layne Harmon, and Glenn and Susan Bailey and Jarrett Mullins.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the ICU nurses at LewisGale Hospital - Alleghany for the compassionate nursing care they gave to Hollis.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Mr. Chris Fisher, Pastor Stephanie Clark, Mr. Ray Keen, and Mr. Jim Tennant, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at Nicely Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 4189 Castile Road, Covington, VA or the home of his mother, Barbara Pritt, 2070 Jackson River Turnpike, Hot Springs, VA.
