Raphine Resident Was Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church Member

Cathy Elizabeth Green Blinn, 71, wife of Dr. Robert Holland Blinn of Raphine, Virginia, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022 at her home surrounded by family.

She had bravely battled cancer for almost two years before succumbing to the disease.

Cathy was born in Sanford, Florida in 1950. Her parents were Roy Donald Green and Sally Hunter (Rivers) Green.

Cathy was a member of Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church in Steeles Tavern, where she was an elder and sang in the choir for many years.

Cathy earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology from the University of South Florida, and earned her Master of Social Work at Florida State University. She then earned her licensure in clinical social work in 1983 and served local families in her work both privately as well as at Valley Community Services Board, Commonwealth Center for Children and Adolescents, Augusta Health, and People Places.

Cathy was a talented musician who sang with several area choral groups, including the Rockbridge Chorus. She was a self-educated artist and photographer and loved bodysurfing at the beach. She also loved working in her garden, riding horses, and being with her family. She was dearly loved.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 40 years is her brother, the Rev. Dr. Roy Donald Green Jr. (wife, Nancy), of Bend, Ore.; daughter, Jada Elizabeth Blinn (fiancé, Roger Reynolds), of Churchville; son, Michael Parnell Blinn (wife, Melissa), of Churchville; and cousin, Geoffrey Murray (wife, Sandy) of Napa, Calif. Additionally, she loved two sons by marriage: Jeremy Robert Blinn (wife, Tracy) of Deland, Fla., and Andrew Holland Blinn (wife, Julie) of Durham, N.C. She was blessed to have nine grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Raymond Cruz and the nursing staff of Augusta Health Cancer Center, and Dr. Paul Kunk and the staff of the Emily Couric Cancer Center at UVA for their concern and excellent care.

The family will receive friends at their home in Raphine. Burial will be private. A memorial service will be scheduled at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church when the current COVID-19 surge has abated. Please refer to henryfuneralhome.net for updates on service information.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Nature Conservancy.
