Lewisburg Resident, Ronceverte Baptist Church Member, Dies At Age 78

Carolyn Rachel (Hoover) Ratliļ¬€, 78, of Lewisburg, West Virginia, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, following a sudden illness.

Born May 16th, 1943 in Richlands, WV, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Forest Bright Hoover and Ruby Crystal (Hoke) Hoover.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, James Wallace Ratliļ¬€; three sisters, Virginia Stone, Jean Grady, and Margie Frame; four brothers, Robert, Beuford, Kenneth, and John Hoover.

Carolyn had numerous occupations. She worked at C&P Phone Company and Crawford's Food Center. She eventually retired from The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, where she was a Switchboard Operator and resident best friend.

She was a faithful member of the Ronceverte Baptist Church, an avid bowler, enjoyed gardening, and spent many hours tracking down her family roots to share with everyone at the Hoover Reunions.

Carolyn was a selfless, caring, outgoing woman that devoted her life to her family and friends. She was a woman that could work circles around you. Even in her final days, she made an impact on everyone around her.

Survivors include: sons Jeļ¬€ Ratliļ¬€ and wife, Carol; Kevin Ratliļ¬€ and wife, Kadee; and Chris Ratliļ¬€ and wife, Amy. Grandchildren: Jacob Ratliļ¬€, Rachel Ratliļ¬€, Chelsea (Ratliļ¬€) Blevins and husband, Justin Blevins, Leah Ratliļ¬€ and fiancĆ©, Kirby Campbell, Larah Ratliļ¬€, and Kamy Ratliļ¬€. Great grandchildren: Lillith Woods, Luna Ratliļ¬€, AJ Ratliļ¬€, Everlynn Blevins, and Blair Campbell, and four step grandchildren. Siblings: three brothers, Melvin, Bill, and Jim Hoover. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held at Wallace and Wallace in Lewisburg Saturday, February 5th, 2022. Family visitation only will be from 11:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. We will be receiving friends from 12:00 p.m. -1:00 p.m. with services immediately after.

The burial will take place at Bethel Cemetery in Organ Cave, WV, immediately following the service.

Family and friends are welcome to come to the Ronceverte Baptist Church after the burial for food and fellowship.
