Michael Joseph Hess, age 69, of 9559 Maury River Road, Goshen, Virginia died Monday, January 31, 2022 at his residence.

He was born May 30, 1952 in Fort Mead, Maryland to the late Harry Harold and Bertha Colleen Wilson Hess.

He was graduate of James Madison University and a retired police officer for the City of Lexington.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Hess.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Fay Hall Hess of Goshen; a daughter, Bridgett Hess of Washington D.C.; three sons, Robbie Hess of Hanover, Carl Hess of Powhatan, and Jason Hess of Hopewell; a sister, Patricia Connelly of West Point; nine grandchildren, Laura, Jonathan, Noelle, Carl Lee, Addison Leigh, Erika, Jayla, Skye, and Jason; a great grandchild, Jaiden; and a niece and nephew, Michelle and Chris.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in Goshen Baptist Church, Goshen, Virginia, with Pastor Scott Reese officiating. The family will receive friends in the reception hall following the service.
