Obituary for Earl Leslie Loan, Jr. Earl Leslie Loan, Jr.
U. S. Army Vietnam War Veteran Was Founding Member Of The Victory Baptist Church

Earl Leslie Loan, Jr., age 80, of 204 Wood Hollow Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at his residence and went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He was born December 13, 1941 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Maude Elizabeth "Lib" Wood Reynolds.

He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a retired papermaker from Westvaco after 38 years of service.

He was a founding member of Victory Baptist Church, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and following his grandchildren around. He also loved to cut firewood.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Reynolds; his mother-in-law, Virginia Nicely; and his father-in-law, George Nicely.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Watts Loan; two daughters, Lisa Day and husband, Brad, and Christy Cook and husband, Spencer; a sister, Janie Feazell and husband, Mike; three sisters-in-law, Millie Clark, Celia Reynolds, and Sherry Watts, all of Clifton Forge; an aunt, Bessie Paxton of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Colt Cook and Garet Cook; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks for care given by Dr. Farhad Sahebjam.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Brandon Nicely officiating. Interment will follow in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be Raymond Thompson, David Thompson, Kevin Day, J. W. Dudding, John Feazell, and Scott Reynolds. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
