Obituary for Kenneth Stanford (Sparky) Stull, Jr. Kenneth Stanford (Sparky) Stull, Jr.
Covington Native Vietnam War Veteran, New Castle Resident

Kenneth Stanford (Sparky) Stull, Jr., 73, of New Castle, Virginia, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, February 5, 2022.

He was born on Monday, June 28, 1948 to the late Ruth Britt Stull and Kenneth S. Stull, Sr., in Covington, VA.

He was a friend to everyone he met, and he never met a stranger.

Sparky was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Later in life, he became a NASCAR fan, moreover, a Dale Earnhardt, Sr. superfan, as well as a faithful Craig County Schools sports fan!

He worked at H. L. Lawson and Sons, where he retired after thirty-five years.

Sparky served the Lord faithfully and was a member of the Crossroads Church in New Castle, where he was a Deacon.

When the call of his country was heard, he answered by serving in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam conflict. Along with his military service, he was a member of the V.F.W. Post 4491 in New Castle.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Ralph and Cora Stull; maternal grandparents, Frank and Ethel Britt; mother and father-in-law, Elsie and Lloyd Hale, Sr.; brothers, Dennis Stull, and Ray Stull and wife, Nancy.

Left to cherish his precious memory include his wife of forty-five years, Wanda Hale Stull; sisters, Brenda Smithers, and husband, Randy of Selma, VA, and Lisa Simms and husband, Craig of Reisterstown, MD; nephews, Cary Tichenor and wife, Heather, Avery Smithers, Mike Stull, and Angie Carper; nieces, Sara Dougherty and husband, Jeremy, Emily Simms, Rachel Smithers, Pam Harmon and husband, Calvin; great-nieces and nephew, Nora, Corinne, Isla, and Cameron; numerous other nieces and nephews; aunts, Louise Humphries, Ruby Stull, Virgie Seay, and Nancy Britt; brother and sister-in-law, Sonny and Pam Hale; and finally, many cousins, church family, neighbors, and friends that loved him dearly.

A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Paitsel Funeral Home in New Castle, VA, with Pastors Gary Burch and Raymond Christian officiating. Burial will follow at the Crossroads Church Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post 4491, his family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may visit with the family from 1 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.

You are encouraged to wear a face mask and practice safe social distancing while attending services for Mr. Stull. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in his honor to Crossroads Church, or the St. Jude's Children’s Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate).
