Obituary for Catherine (Kitty) Carson Catherine (Kitty) Carson
Longtime Covington Resident Was Former High School Teacher, McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church Member

Catherine (Kitty) Carson, age 92, of Warsaw, Virginia, passed away on February 13, 2022.

She was predeceased by her husband, The Honorable William E. (Kit) Carson; her mother, Catherine Teague; her father, Thomas Cover; her sister, Anne (Juddy) Coleman, and her brother, Charles (Chuck) Cover.

She is survived by her son, James (Barney) Thomas (Tammy); daughter, Anne Barker (Larry); step-sons, Lance Carson (Kathy) and Andy Carson (Ruth); her grandchildren, Carrie Walston, Catherine McPherson (Zack), Megan Bray (Tyler), Adam Thomas, Noah Thomas, Devon Nicely (Billy), Layne Carson (Shaina), Toby Carson, Madeline Carson and Kayla Carson, and her great grandchildren, Lincoln Walston, Avery Walston, Kennedy McPherson, Shania McPherson, Daniel McPherson, James Bray, Charleston Bray, Thomas Bray, Anthony Nicely, Kaylee Nicely, Kason Carson, Xander Carson, and Jasper Carson.

Mrs. Carson graduated from Madison College and retired from teaching having taught at Covington High School, Gloucester High School, Mathews High School, and Alleghany High School. While teaching she served as an officer in the Virginia Education Association.

She loved people and was involved in many activities and organizations, which included the Red Hat Society, Jackson River Garden Club, Junior Women's Club, and Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center. She was also an active member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church in Covington, Virginia where she served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and choir member.

She joined Warsaw United Methodist Church following her move to Warsaw, Virginia in 2016. She and her beloved husband, Kit, loved traveling, cooking, spending time with family, and cheering for the University of Virginia Wahoos.

A graveside service is planned for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Covington, Virginia with Rev. Bill Hartsfield officiating. The family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church in lieu of flowers.
