Longtime Rockbridge County Administrator's Secretary Dies At Age 78

Juanita Hinty Talbott, 78, of Natural Bridge, Virginia died Friday, February 25, 2022 at Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital.

Born June 22, 1943 in Lexington, she was a daughter of the late Robert Davis Hinty and Lucille Dale Hinty.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Karen S. Hinty, and brother-in-law, David E. Alexander Sr.

Juanita was a loving and caring sister, mother, mother-in-law and grandparent who positively touched the lives of those around her. She was kind, considerate, and served as an inspiration to others through her patience and determination.

She enjoyed spending time with her sisters, Barbara and Teresa. They loved shopping, traveling, attending ballgames and playing bingo together for many years. Juanita's brother, David, was always available to help his sister with home repairs and maintenance projects.

Juanita had a special life-long relationship with her son, Jamie. She opened her heart to her daughter-in-law, Tammy, and became a proud grandparent to Jordan and McKenzie. Juanita experienced much happiness by being active in Jordan and McKenzie's lives. She never missed an opportunity to support and spend time with them by attending their events, activities, ballgames and special occasions.

Juanita was proudly employed by the County of Rockbridge for 36 years. She served as Administrative Secretary for the County Administrator, Don Austin, for 34 years before retiring in 2008. Juanita cherished the relationships and daily interactions she had with colleagues during her tenure and often beamed with joy when recalling those memories.

Surviving are her son, Jamie M. Talbott and wife, Tammy; sisters, Barbara H. Wilhelm (Carl) and Teresa H. Alexander; brother, David W. Hinty Sr.; grandchildren, Jordan and McKenzie Talbott (fiancé, Jordan Painter); nieces and nephews, David Hinty Jr., Leisa Whitesell, David Alexander Jr., Michael Wilhelm and Julei Campos.

The Rev. Marina Gopadze will officiate a celebration of life beginning at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 3 at Broad Creek A.R. Presbyterian Church, 1510 Broad Creek Church Road, Natural Bridge VA, 24578. Friends may gather with the family one hour prior to the service at the church. The graveside service at Broad Creek Cemetery will follow at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Broad Creek Cemetery, 123 Tally Ho Lane, Natural Bridge, VA 24578 or Alzheimer's Association, 355 Rio Road West, Suite 102, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
