Nathaniel Gregory (Nater Gator) Hughes, 18, passed gently into the arms of the Savior on March 17, 2022, after a battle with COVID and Hidradenitis Suppurativa.

The staff of both Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital and Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital provided excellent service to our boy and surrounded all of us with so much love. We are forever grateful.

This precious son of Michael and Michelle was a warrior from day one and leaves behind a legacy of strength and joy. Always feisty and witty, but never unruly, he gave us many laughs and taught us all so much.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Joshua; grandparents, Greg and Deborah Lynn and Lewis and Evalina Hughes; aunts and uncles, Craig Lynn, Sheila and Chris Wright, Debbie and Justin Hines and Jennifer and Shawn Snyder. He also leaves behind numerous great aunts and uncles and many cousins.

A celebration of life will be held later this spring.
