Obituary for Jeffrey Wayne Carpenter Jeffrey Wayne Carpenter
Former Covington Resident Was U. S. Coast Guard Reserve Veteran

Jeffrey Wayne Carpenter of Goose Creek, South Carolina, died March 25th, 2022.

Jeff was born on March 22, 1960 in Covington, Virginia to Leo and the late Joyce Tucker-Carpenter.

He became a member of the Coast Guard Reserve when he was 17 years old. He went active duty on August 28, 1980 and retired as a Senior Chief with over 24 years of service.

He was a machine technician (MKSC). He worked a lot of different stations including an isolation LORAN station in Alaska. He also worked with The Atlantic Strike team which dealt with hazardous waste and oil clean up as well as a couple of CG patrol boats and CG Cutters.

His best duty station was five years in Hawaii where he and his family absorbed the culture there. They then were stationed in Charleston, SC where he retired from the CG Cutter Gallatin.

Jeff really enjoyed Saturday mornings at IHOP and then going to the shooting range with his friends. He was a friend and mentor to a lot of young people who looked to him to be a good listener and a father figure.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Jo Anne Worley-Carpenter of Goose Creek, SC; daughter, Ariel Carpenter of Goose Creek, SC and his son, Ian Carpenter of Pittsburgh, PA. Also, his dad, Leo Carpenter, sister, Lita Carpenter-Strange and his brother, Jay Carpenter.

You are welcome to join the family in celebrating Jeff's life by wearing aloha clothes to the funeral.

A visitation will be held 7-8:30 on Friday, April 8th, 2022 at Loving Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Please join us after the service at Mallow Presbyterian Church for refreshments.
