James (Butch) Rowan Lawhorn Sr., 73, of Lexington, Virginia, passed away Friday, April 15, 2022.

He was born June 24, 1948 in Staunton, the son of the late Leonard and Demearise Roar Lawhorn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, James R. Lawhorn Jr. and David Lawhorn; a sister, Frenchie Mullins; and two brothers, Raymond and Buddy Lawhorn.

He is survived by three sons, Butch Lawhorn and fiancé, Emily, Danny Lawhorn and Steve Lawhorn; a brother, Curtis Lawhorn; sister, Pearl Lasley; grandchildren, Stephanie Lawhorn, Chris Lawhorn, Jacoby Lawhorn, Shauntel Lawhorn, Seth Lawhorn, Meagan Lawhorn, Danni Lawhorn and Devon Lawhorn; three great-grandchildren and two special nieces, Teresa Lawhorn Camden and Lisa Lawhorn Suthers.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 20 at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens with the Rev. W. David Bain officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 19 at Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Home.
