Dennis James Shaw, 61, of Lexington, Virginia passed away Friday, April 22, 2022 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born April 17, 1961 in Lexington, he was a son of Opal Chittum Hickman and the late Elwood Shaw.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alma McCormick Shaw.

Dennis was a carpenter who was employed by Bill Sterns Security Management. He was master craftsman who loved spending time working on any carpentry project.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Dennis Ray Derr (Amanda) and granddaughter, Taylor; daughter, Devan Brook West; siblings, Russell Shaw, Larry Shaw, Debbie Ramsey, Kevin Wilhelm and Sharon Patterson. He is also survived by a special friend, Linda McAlister, Danny Wheeler and the guys from Todd's BBQ, a good friend, Laura Evans, and too many friends and family members to count.

The family will have a private service at a later date.
