Obituary for William Wayne Wright William Wayne Wright
Covington Water Department Employee Was Covington Fire Department Member

William Wayne Wright, 65, of 6315 Uplands Road, Covington, Virginia, died Thursday, April 28, 2022 at his residence. Mr. Wright was born in Alleghany County, a son of the late Carl Leo and Shirley Rowe Wright Ferryman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carla Weese; two brothers, Joe Ferryman and Carl Wright.

He worked at the Water department for the City of Covington, and was proud member of the Covington Fire department. He also loved fishing, wrestling, going to the Lumberjack Games, and playing with the children his fiancé watched.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.

Surviving are his fiancé, Lisa Jones of Covington; a son, Tyler Wright of Roanoke; two daughters, Tammy and Greta Tucker, both of Covington; a brother, Leo Wright of Clifton Forge; a special aunt and uncle, Don and Opal Rowe Kenton, OH; and those he considered his grandchildren, Faylynn, Baylee, Harley, and Waylon Wolfe; also, brother-in-law, Richard Weese of Covington.

A funeral service will be held on Friday May 6, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in Alleghany Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. John Snyder officiating.

The family will receive their friends from noon until service time on Friday at Arritt Funeral Home and at other times at his residence.

The family suggests memorial donations in Mr. Wright's name be made to the Covington Fire Department at 435 W. Hawthorne St., Covington, VA 24426.

The funeral arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home.
