Obituary for Rose Nicely Fisher Rose Nicely Fisher
Iron Gate Resident Was Former C&O Hospital Lab Employee, Longtime Iron Gate Baptist Church Member

Rose Nicely Fisher, age 76, of Iron Gate, Virginia went to be with Jesus on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at LewisGale Hospital Alleghany, Low Moor.

She was born November 21, 1945 in Alleghany County to the late Elroy and Francis Conner Nicely.

She worked forty years in the lab at the former C & O Hospital and Alleghany Regional Hospital. She was also employed at Covington Motors and the Virginia Horse Center.

Rose was a member of Iron Gate Baptist Church, the Glen Wilton Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, the C&O Hospital Medical Assistants' Association and the Sharon Elementary Parent Teachers Association.

She is survived by a daughter, Lethia Carroll Hammond and husband, Ross of Eagle Rock; two sons, Joseph W. Fisher, II and wife, Donna of Eagle Rock and Christopher M. Fisher and wife, Melissa of Clifton Forge; eight grandchildren, Ryan Hammond, Shaun Hammond, Joseph Edwards, Keaton Fisher, Caleb Fisher, Connor Fisher, Sydnee Hammond, Macrae Robertson; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Carroll Crawford; an aunt, Ruth Hepler; an uncle, Houston Smith; many cousins whom she considered brothers and sisters, numerous close friends and a number of special caregivers who were so kind to her during her illness.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend David Hanks and Reverend Edith Snedegar officiating. Interment will follow in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Chazy Nicely, Larry Hipes, Danny Byer and Kurt Feazell. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Iron Gate Baptist Church, P. O. Box 193, Iron Gate, VA 24448 or the Iron Gate Fire Department, c/o Danny Byer, P. O. Box 146, Iron Gate, VA 24448.
