Lexington Resident Dies At Age 68

Olivia Lynn Patton, daughter of Claude Herbert (Red) Patton and Jane Taylor Patton, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.

She was born on February 11, 1954 in Roanoke and raised in her beloved hometown of Lexington, Virginia. She attended University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and University of Vermont where she earned a degree in Theatre.

She followed her passion for theatre and film to Los Angeles where she had a successful career in film production and picture and music editing.

She returned to her roots in the Blue Ridge Mountains to be closer to family and enjoyed working for Virginia Military Institute, Lexington Presbyterian Church, and various local establishments in downtown Lexington. She was a lover of VMI athletics, music, movies, gardening, and her furry companions. In line with her passions, she enjoyed volunteering at Lime Kiln Theater where she could immerse herself in the local culture and community.

Thank you to all of her friends, near and far, for the immense love and support over the years.

In addition to her parents, Red and Jane Patton, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Claude Herbert "Pat" Patton Jr., Katherine Jane Patton and John Fewell Patton.

She is survived by her sister, Karen Patton Priest; brother-in-law, Joshua Patterson Priest; sister-in-law, Pamela Messer Patton; and nieces, Ann Taylor Priest, Blair Elizabeth Priest and Rebecca Cady Patton.

The family welcomes you to gather for a celebration of Olivia's life on Saturday, June 25, at a time and location to be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VMI Keydet Club "Red Patton, Class of 1950B Scholarship" at P. O. Box 932, Lexington, VA 24450.
