He was born in 1932 to Roy and Reva Boone Arritt. He spent his entire life in Covington, Virginia.

Ron had a passion for many things: his work, golf, and mostly his family.

He was a lifelong member of First Christian Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, treasurer, and an elder. In his later years he attended Highland Chapel Christain Church where his dear friend, J. B Broughman, served as pastor.

Ron served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 aboard the USS Midway as a medic. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting. He worked as an accountant at R. L. Persinger, after which he served as assistant administrator/finance at Bath County Hospital. He then moved into the role of administrator in 1984 until retirement in 1997.

Ron served as a city councilman, was a board member for Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, and he was instrumental in establishing the free clinic for this area and served on the board and as treasurer.

He is survived by his wife, Edith; son, Steve Arritt; son, Greg Arritt (Tina), and a very special daughter, Rhonda Adams (Andy). He had seven grandchildren: April Smith (Bobby), the late Heather Arritt, Matthew Arritt, Amanda Scott (Scottie), Bryce Arritt (Carrie), Jacob Adams, and Caleb Arritt.
