Obituary for Robert D. Leech Obituary for James Estel (Jay) Vest, Jr.
U.S. Army Veteran Dies At Age 55

James Estel (Jay) Vest, Jr., 55, of Lexington, died Saturday, March 25, 2006 at his home.

Born August 15, 1950 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late James Estel Vest, Sr. and Nora Lee Kirby Vest.

Mr. Vest was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the Paralyzed Veterans Association.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Florence H. Vest.

Surviving are five sisters: Judy F. Forbes, Salem; Jackie F. Shull, Fairfield; Pamela V. Moore, Stuarts Draft; Patricia V. Ruley, Lexington; and Wanda G. Doc, Lexington; and one brother, Norman K. Vest, Sr., Dinwiddie; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2006 in the Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in the New Monmouth Presbyterian Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.

Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory in Lexington.
