Dianne Nolen Lawson, 59, of Charlottesville, died Thursday, March 29, 2006 at her home after courageously battling ovarian cancer for a year.

Dianne was born on October 9, 1946 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of Verlin Groah and Dorthy Roadcap Groah of Buena Vista.

Dianne was a member of the First Brethren Church in Buena Vista and was employed by Sprint for 39 years.

In addition to her parents, Dianne is survived by her husband, David F. Lawson of Charlottesville; two daughters: Joy Spence Elliott of Newport News; Taryn Spence Harrison of Charlottesville; two stepsons: Chris Lawson of Green County and Eric Lawson of Fluvanna; two sisters: Johnna Smith of Buena Vista and Bonnie Berkstresser of Lynchburg; one brother, Danny Groah of New York; and one granddaughter, Hannah Elliott.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at the First Brethren Church with Rev. Christian Becker and Rev. Lester Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund at the First Brethren Church to benefit the youth. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Service, Buena Vista.
