Obituary for Ruth Elizabeth Watkins Campbell Ruth Elizabeth Watkins Campbell
County Native Dies At Age 76

Ruth Elizabeth Watkins Campbell, 76, of Natural Bridge Station died Monday, April 24, 2006 at the Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

Born March 3, 1930 in Rockbridge County, she was the daughter of the late John Harvey and Glennie Mae Johnson Watkins.

Her husbands, Emory Campbell, Sr. and Hedges Beverly, preceded her in death.

Surviving are her children: Wanda Hodges and husband, Rodger and Carson Thomas and wife, Donna of Natural Bridge Station; Robbie Clark and husband, Raymond of Buena Vista; Barbara Campbell and friend, Mitzi Moran of Natural Bridge Station; and Emory (Joe) Campbell, Jr. and fiancˇe, Dawn Booth of Natural Bridge Station; 11 grandchildren, four of whom she helped raise: James Pruett, Steve Moore, Randy Moore, and Tammy Bryant of Natural Bridge Station; and nine great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Rose W. Breeden, Wilmer Watkins, Earl Watkins, and Roy Watkins, all of Natural Bridge Station; and her ex-husband, Carl Thomas of Natural Bridge Station.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2006, at the Lomax Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Larry M. Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Lomax Funeral Home.
