U.S. Navy Veteran Was Lexington Building & Zoning Administrator
Donald J. Mette, 80, of Rockbridge Baths, died Tuesday, April 25, 2006 in the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Cancer Center.
Mr. Mette was born in Howell, Missouri, a son of the late Henry F. Mette and Annie Thielmann Mette.
He was retired from the U.S. Navy and the city of Lexington as the Building and Zoning Administrator.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby J. Mette of Rockbridge Baths; a daughter, Ann Tomlinson and husband Steve; a son, David; four grandchildren: Chris and Andrew Hassler and Aldan and Emma Mette.
A memorial service will be held at a later date with burial at sea.
Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
