Obituary for Thomas H. Sharkey Thomas H. Sharkey
Former Owner Of Waynesboro Flea Market

Thomas H. Sharkey, 67, husband of Gladys Brown Sharkey of 4800 Lee Jackson Highway, Greenville, died at 1:55 p.m. Friday (April 28, 2006) in Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville.

He was born December 8, 1938, in Washington, D.C., a son of the late William Henry Sharkey and Bessie (Rayford) Sharkey Webster.

Prior to retirement, Mr. Sharkey operated at the Waynesboro Flea Market.

In addition to his wife, to whom he was married on December 1, 1962, family members include a son, Shawn Sharkey of Greenville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Tammy Gibbs of Staunton and Patrice and Donnie Hughes of Shenandoah; a brother, John Sharkey of FL; two sisters, Jean and Marie, both of MD; three grandchildren, Samantha Gibbs, Errick Gibbs, and Todd Gibbs; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, William Henry Sharkey; a daughter, Kathleen Elaine Sharkey; and a brother, Charles Sharkey.

A funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday (May 2, 2006) in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Harold W. "Pete" Campbell. Burial followed in Augusta Memorial Park with graveside rites conducted by Augusta - Staunton V. F. W. Post 2216.

Active pallbearers will be Jerry Grimsley, Jerry Grimsley, Jr., Shawn Sharkey, Donnie Hughes, Billy Brown, and Charles Curry.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends and neighbors attending the service.

The family received friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Monday (May 1, 2006) in the funeral home and other times at the residence.
