Retired From Burlington After 42 Years Of Service

Bernard Elwood Patterson, 76, of Glasgow, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2006 after a long illness.

Born December 21, 1929 in Rockbridge County, he was the son of the late Roy and Bessie Rickman Patterson.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Korean Conflict.

He was retired from Burlington Industries after 42 years of service.

Surviving are his wife, Edna Patterson; a son, Robert Patterson and wife, Teresa of St. Petersburg, FL; a daughter, Sylvia Patterson of Buena Vista; and two grandchildren: Brian Patterson and Sean Patterson, both of St. Petersburg, Florida.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lomax Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sheldon Sorrels officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Rockbridge Area Hospice.
