Obituary for Freddie "Fred" Ralphford Potter Freddie "Fred" Ralphford Potter
U.S. Army Veteran Was Barber For Over 40 Years

Freddie "Fred" Ralphford Potter, 76, of 1000 S. Winchester Ave., Waynesboro, passed away at 1:10 AM Thursday, June 1, 2006 at his residence.

He was born December 26, 1929 in Rockbridge County, the son of the late Omer Lewis and Mary Elizabeth Miller Potter. He was the last member of his immediate family.

He was a US Army veteran and a barber for over forty years. He owned and operated Freddie's Barber Shop in Natural Bridge and continued to work after his retirement part-time at LarryÕs Barber Shop in Waynesboro.

He was a member of Wayne Hills Baptist Church where he was a devoted Christian who dearly loved the Lord, his wife, his family and music. Mr. Potter was an avid musician who sang and played the fiddle, banjo and guitar. His kind and gentle spirit will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Eva Parsons Potter; five brothers: Omer, Melvin, Eugene, Roy and John and six sisters, Angie Landrum, Elizabeth Theo Lotts, Jenniabee Thomas, Dorothy Hensley, Clara Buchanan and Mary Ruth Conner.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy C. Potter; two daughters, Joy Haney of Waynesboro and Shirley Coffey and her husband Donnie of Waynesboro; two grandchildren, Chessie Roop and Dylan Coffey and two dear friends, Bob Webb and Larry Moyer.

A service will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, June 3, 2006 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Funeral Service by Pastor Phillip Hunt and Chaplain Mark Westebbe officiating. Burial will follow in the High Bridge Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Natural Bridge.

Active pallbearers will be Bobby Bosserman, Ernest Conner, Ernie Conner, Jr., Barry Simmons, Bob Webb and Larry Moyer.

Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews attending the service.

The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 PM this evening at the funeral home.
