Avid Deer Hunter, Fisherman Was Mark Martin Fan

Earl Elmo Hall, 64, of Goshen, Virginia, joined God in Heaven on Monday, June 5, 2006.

He was born on March 22, 1942 in Rockbridge County, a son of David William Hall and Mildred Bryant Hall.

Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his father.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Hall is survived by his stepfather, Charles Kennedy; and his wife of 43 years, Mrs. Dorothy Ward Hall. Also surviving are two devoted sons: David Alton Hall and JoAnn; Shannon Wesly Hall and Hope; three devoted daughters: Bonny Lisa Tolley and Bobby; Teresa Fay Hess and Mike; Amy Beth Byram and Brock; seven grandchildren: Samantha Tolley, Ryan and Adam Hall, Bridget Hess, Tyler and Caleb Hall and Dylan Byram. Earl is also survived by a brother, Edgar R. Hall and special friends Ronnie Tolley, Ronnie Thompson, Junior Matheny, Dennis Fridley and Mike Jolly. Earl will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, mother-in-law, Willie Ward and a sister-in-law, Barbara Cox.

Earl worked at Locher Silica and later at Burke-Parsons Bowlby in Goshen until his heart attack in 1998. He was an avid deer hunter, fisherman and a Mark Martin fan. He had begun his yearly beard in anticipation of this year's hunting season with his sons and grandson, Ryan, even though he knew he would not be well enough to go.

He was diagnosed with Mylo Dysplasia Syndrome in November, 2005 and had finished his third round of seven Vidaza shots.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Robert Pickral, Dr. Mallidi, Dr. Lanier, and all the many ER doctors at Stonewall Jackson Hospital and Carilion Hospital in Roanoke. Special thanks for all the caring nurses in ER, ACU, ICU, OR and Med./Surg. And the wonderful nurses in Dr. Pickral's and Dr. Mallidi's offices.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Goshen Baptist Church Cemetery by the Revs. Scott Reese and Sonny Wilhelm. There will be no viewing prior to the service.

Donations may be made to the Goshen Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 66, Goshen, Virginia 24439.

Active pallbearers will be Mike Hess, Charles Kennedy, Mike Jolly, Douglas Bryant, Charles Byrant, Jamie Bryant, Danny Clifton, Jasper Matheny, Doug Gentry, Dennis Fridley and Ben Sticker.

The Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
