Obituary for Virginia Odell Bay Virginia Odell Swisher Bay
Fairfield Native Dies In Newport News

Virginia Odell Swisher Bay, 87, formerly of Lexington, died Saturday, June 10, 2006 in the Newport News Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Bay has been a resident of Peninsula for the past 18 years, and lived in Richmond for 25 years prior to that.

She was born in Fairfield, a daughter of the late Harim Harper and Sadie Cleo Arehart Swisher.

Mrs. Bay was a member of the Fairfield Presbyterian Church and retired as a Tupperware Distributor.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bay was preceded in death by her husband, Linwood L. Bay; a son, Thomas H. Bay and a sister, Rebecca Swisher.

Mrs. Bay is survived by two sisters: Sylvia Monahan of Roanoke and Hazel Wiseman of Newport News; a stepdaughter, Mary Hall of Newport News; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A funeral service was conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2006 in the Harrison Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington by the Rev. Zeb C. Williams. Burial followed in the Fairfield Cemetery.

The family received friends one hour prior to the service.
