Virginia Rowsey Troxell, 83, of Buena Vista, died Saturday, June 24, 2006 in the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Lexington.

Mrs. Troxell was born on September 30, 1922 in Rockbridge County, and was the last surviving child of the late Carl Lee Rowsey and Lucy Williams Rowsey.

She attended the Brethren Church and was a past member of the Lexington Moose Lodge.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jamerson.

Mrs. Troxell is survived by her husband of 44 years, Ora Troxell of Buena Vista; one daughter, Norvelle Merritt of Salisbury, MD; one son, Lewis G. Slagle, Jr. of Bear, DE; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2006 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with Pastor Butch Grow officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Service, Buena Vista.
