Mamie Virginia Knick Gilbert, 93, of Buena Vista, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt passed away Friday, June 30, 2006 surrounded by family and friends at Kendal Health & Wellness Center.

Mamie was born on August 18, 1912 and had spent her life in Rockbridge County.

She retired from Burlington Industries and was a member of the Buena Vista Baptist church.

Mamie was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Lee Gilbert; two great great twin granddaughters, Kessie and McKewize Rice; three brothers and four sisters.

Surviving are her children: Katie, Frank, Freddie and Emma; eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren; a son-in-law, Larry D. Cash; daughter-in-law, Romelda Gilbert; two sisters: Annie Clarke and Hallie Hostetter.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2006 in the Green Hill Cemetery with Rev. W. David Bain officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Mamie's name to the Rockbridge Area Hospice, P. O. Box 948, Lexington, Va. 24450. The family will receive friends at any time at Emma and Larry Cash's home, 151 Brae Haven Lane, Buena Vista.
