Obituary for John G. Pittman John G. Pittman
A Research Scientist Retiree

John G. Pittman, 64, of Middlebrook, died Thursday, June 29, 2006 at his home.

Mr. Pittman was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 28, 1942 and was a son of the late Charles Pittman and Marcia Streeter Pittman.

He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lexington and was retired from Columbia University and the Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene as a research scientist. He was a member of the Red Cross and the NRA. He enjoyed golf, scuba diving, traveling, music, the outdoors, and his home. He was a student pilot, scholar, historian, an avid reader, a marksman in shooting, and a fan of Notre Dame football.

He is survived by his "Old Girl" of 42 years, Diana M. Pittman, of Middlebrook; four sons, Joe Pittman and wife, Lisa, of Middletown, DE; John Pittman and wife, Laura, of Gallup, NM; Brian Pittman and wife, Lisa, of Cheshire, CT; and Tom Pittman and wife, Michele, of Sahuarita, AZ.

He is also survived by one sister, Sally Pittman-Smith and her husband, Barry, of Hyde Park, NY; one brother-in-law and best friend, Brian Kandibo of Hampton; and 11 grandchildren.

A mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 3, 2006 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Joseph D'Aurora officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
