Obituary for David William Staton, Sr. David William Staton, Sr.
U. S. Army Veteran Was N. B. Baptist Church Member

David William Staton, Sr., 97, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, July 11, 2006 in the Oakwood Manor in Bedford.

Mr. Staton was born on January 16, 1909 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Alfred Hamilton Staton and Mary Huffman Staton.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the Natural Bridge Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Lambert Staton.

Mr. Staton is survived by three sons: David W. Staton, Jr. of Colonial Heights, Thomas H. Staton of Toney, Alabama and John Lee Staton of Chester; three daughters: Mae S. Shelton of White Stone, Phyllis S. Higgins of Lexington and Wanda S. Hart of Rustburg; one sister, Mary Staton McFaddin of Glasgow; ten grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2006 in the Natural Bridge Baptist Cemetery with the Rev. William M. Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
