Obituary for James Patrick "Buddy" Hall James Patrick "Buddy" Hall
Former Buena Vista City Councilman Dies At Age 70

James Patrick "Buddy" Hall, 70, Buena Vista, went home to be with the Lord on September 7, 2006.

He was born February 1, 1936 in Bath County, a son of the late Guy Francis and Stella Stephenson Hall.

His life accomplishments include, but are not limited to the following: he was a member, usher and bus driver at Calvary Brethren Church, Buena Vista; an active life member of the Buena Vista Rescue Squad, where he served for 43 years and was honored for 20 consecutive years for "Top Ten Most Calls Answered". He held every office within the organization including 2006 Chaplain, and received many prestigious squad awards over the years.

He was past Master of the Buena Vista Masonic Lodge; had past service in the U.S. National Guard; severed on the Buena Vista City Council for 8 years, including 2 years as Vice Mayor.

He retired as Maintenance Supervisor for Reeves Brothers where he worked for 45 years and was retired from the Buena Vista City Schools as a bus driver.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to everyone he met.

He was known for his honesty, service to the community and sense of fairness.

Besides his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by a sister, Norine Hall.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Doris Huffman (Sissy) Hall; two daughters: Pamela Hall Staats and husband Larry of Lexington; Clarissa Jo Hall Tomlin and husband Randy of Glasgow; one granddaughter, Kimberly Hall Dorey and husband, Brent of Lexington; great grandson, Alden Parrish Dorey; three sisters: Emily Hall Coleman and husband Winfred of Buena Vista; Wanda Hall Clark of Millboro; Anna Hall Higgins of Waynesboro; and a special aunt, Maple S. Heizer of Waynesboro.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the Calvary Brethren Building Fund, 1365 Woodland Avenue, Buena Vista, Va. 24416.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 2006 at the Calvary Brethren Church with Rev. Rick Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery, Buena Vista.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Service, Buena Vista.
