Obituary for Libby Floyd Entsminger Libby Floyd Entsminger
Active In Her Community, She Was Employed By Kroger, W&L

Libby Floyd Entsminger, of Lexington, Virginia, died Saturday, September 9, 2006 in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

She was born January 19, 1931, the daughter of the late Gertrude Clark Floyd and Frank Floyd of Buena Vista.

She was married to the late Staton McKim Entsminger for 48 years.

She is survived by a son, Gary L. Entsminger and his wife, Alison Brody of Jerico, VT; a son, J. W. Entsminger and his wife, Carol Lauck Entsminger of Lexington and their daughter, Shelby C. Ruley of Roanoke, VA; one sister, Katie Fitzgerald of Buena Vista; two brothers: Raymond Floyd of Monroe, VA and Harry Floyd of Buena Vista. Also surviving Mrs. Entsminger are numerous nieces and nephews, many other special family and church members, and her very dear friend, James Mahood, Sr. of Lexington.

Libby was a longtime choir and church member of the Lexington Baptist Church. Over the years, she served on numerous committees as well as holding the offices of president and secretary of the Women Missionary Union (WMU). She served on the Lord's Supper Committee and was most faithful in visiting the sick and shut-in.

Libby was a Rockbridge Area Hospice volunteer, a member of the Ben Wesley Ruritan Club, and was a member of the VFW Post 1499 Ladies Auxiliary.

Libby was employed by the Kroger Company for many years, was previous owner of University Florist, and retired from Washington and Lee University, where she worked in dining services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lexington Baptist Church or the Rockbridge Area Hospice.

A funeral service will be held at the Lexington Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 wth pastor Mike Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
