Obituary for Lt. Col. Paul Dennis Baker Lt. Col. Paul Dennis Baker
Was Recipient Of Many Military Medals

Lt. Col. Paul Dennis Baker, U.S. Army (Retired), 88, of Rockbridge Baths, died Monday, August 21, 2006 in the Veterans Hospital, Salem.

He was born December 18, 1917 in Marion, Indiana, a son of the late Archie Oliver Baker and Ruth Lodema Dennis Baker.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine B. Baker on April 4, 2006.

He is the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Lt. Col. Baker was a member of the NRA and the National Association of Retired Officers. He was a recipient of the following medals: Bronze Star Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Army Occupation Medal (Germany) with Clasp, 5 Oversea Bars, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal.

Lt. Col. Baker is survived by two daughters: Adrienne Crowder and her husband, Jeff, of Buena Vista; and Stephanie Ann Rodriguez and her husband, Jose, of West Point, Utah; five grandchildren: Scott Paul Umbarger, Christin L. Umbarger, Carlos Baker, Lauren Reeve, and Carrington Rodriguez; and one great grandchild, Kyson Baker; two step great grandchildren: Ashley Baker and Brookley Crowder; three step-great granchildren: Dakota Tyler Baker, Durham Baker and Jaden Baker.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 25, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Harrison Funeral Chapel by Chaplain Glazener. A military burial followed in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum, Lexington.

The Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington handled the arrangements.
