Obituary for Rubye Belle Parrent Lindsay Rubye Belle Parrent Lindsay
VMI Nurse Served In The Philippines During World War II

Rubye Belle Parrent Lindsay, 95, of Buena Vista, formerly of Alone Mill Road, Lexington, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at her residence.

She was born April 2, 1911, a daughter of the late Joseph Parrent and Ada Lovie Powell.

Mrs. Lindsay was a member of Manly Memorial Baptist Church.

She was a retired nurse from V.M.I.

She was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving her country in the Philippes during World War II.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew W. Lindsay; a son, Andrew W. Lindsay, Jr.; four sisters: Frances Getz, Thelma Parrent, Catherine Paxton and Mary Catlett; two brothers: Jack Parrent and Linwood Parrent.

She is survived by two sons: Charles B. Lindsay and partner, Susan Henniker of Richmond; James P. Lindsay and wife, Katherian of Lexington; two daughters: Elizabeth L. Lindsay of Fairfield and Paul G. Lindsay and partner, Julie Altizer of Buena Vista; one sister, Lovie Walker of Richmond; four grandchildren: Ryan, Scott, John and Andrew Scott Lindsay; daughter-in-law, Linda Christy; special caregivers: Agnes Spade, Alice Sensabaugh, Ruth Slough and Ann Sorrells; special friends: Kenneth Morris and Robert Agnor, and special pets, Brooke, Punkin, and Mitzi.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. It is suggested that those desiring to make memorial donations should do so to the Talking Books, c/o Staunton Public Library, 1 Churchill Ave., Staunton, Va. 24401.

The family received friends Friday, September 22, 2006 from 3-5 p.m. at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
