Obituary for Roger Day Helmick Roger Day Helmick
Electrician Worked With Austin Electric Company

Roger Day Helmick, 61 of Lexington, passed away suddenly Friday morning, September 22, 2006.

Roger was the son of the late Melvin Hyde and Mary Virginia Bright Helmick.

He was an electrician by trade and had worked for Austin Electric Company in Buchanan, where he was a valuable asset for over 20 years.

He loved NASCAR racing and fishing. He will be sadly missed.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Dwayne and Annette Helmick of Bedford, Kevin and Sherry Helmick, Richard Helmick, all of Lexington; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Donald W. Miller, Jr.; brothers, Vincent Helmick of Lexington, Wayne Gray of Roanoke and Chester Gray; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; fiancee, Penny Cash; and special friends, Ruby Moore, Matt Moore and Summer Cash.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 25, 2006 at 2 p.m. in Rapps Mill Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Buchanan Chapel of the Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, 254-3000.
