Gary Wayne (Hippy) Van Ness, 56, died October 1, 2006.

Hippy was preceded in death by his father, Woody; a brother, Stevie; a sister, Brenda and the mother of his children, Diane.

He is survived by his mother, Mattie Higgins Van Ness; his children: Jerrah (Scotty) McKemy and C. S. (Lindsey) Van Ness; sister, Sandra (Delmas) Deacon; brothers, Darrell (Debbie) Van Ness and Reid Van Ness; brother-in-law, Randall Pursley; 4 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the cemetery fund at Rapps Mill Cemetery or a charity of choice.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Rapps Mill Cemetery with Rev. Dale Forbes officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
