Joseph Edward Austin and Shirley Higgins Austin, of Natural Bridge Station, died October 30, 2006.

Mr. Austin was born on March 25, 1928 to the late Garrett Thomas Austin and Nettie Jane Moore Austin.

Mr. Austin was retired from the Forest Service with over 20 years of service.

Mrs. Austin was born May 30, 1936, a daughter of the late James Harvey Higgins and Ava Wilhelm Higgins.

The Austins are survived by three sons: Larry J. Austin of Lexington, Ricky (Biscuit) Austin, and Allen Wayne Austin, both of Natural Bridge Station.

Joseph Austin is also survived by two sisters: Ruth Long of Boones Mill and Vinton McDaniel of Sandy Level.

Shirley Austin is also survived by two sisters: Lorene H. Watkins of Natural Bridge Station and Mattie H. VanNess of Lexington; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2006 at the Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Bostic officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2006 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
