World War II Veteran Was VFW Life Member

Charles Earl Smith, Sr., 78, of Lexington, died Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the home of Rocky and Sonia Smith.

Mr. Smith was born December 10, 1927 in Lexington, a son of the late Porter Houston Smith and Maggie Moore Smith.

He was a member of the Lauderdale A.R.P. Church.

He as a veteran of World War II and was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 1499 and the Lexington Moose Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy M. Smith.

Surviving is his son, Charles Earl (Rocky) Smith, Jr. and wife Sonia, of Buena Vista; two brothers: Porter Smith and wife Mary Ellen; Howard Smith and wife Nettie, all of Highland Springs; two granddaughters: Samantha N. Smith and Lauren F. Slough; a special friend, Carlyle Camden; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with Dr. James D. Graves, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home, Buena Vista.
