Charles Ernest Wines, 89, of Glasgow, VA died Wednesday, November 8, 2006 in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

He was born July 1, 1917 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Gilford Wines and Florence Camden Wines.

He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Robert Wines. Mr. Wines was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He was retired from Burlington Industries and was a member of Falling Spring Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Wines is survived by his wife, Josephine Hayes Wines; a son, Donnie Wines and his wife, Vergie, of Glasgow; grandchildren, Laura Hyde and husband Tom of Albemarle, NC; Andrew Wines and wife, Peggy of England; Neal Wines of Christiansburg; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Glasgow First Aid or Falling Spring Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 11 a.m. in Harrison Funeral Chapel with Rev. Brian Weger officiating. Burial will follow in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, November 10, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
