Reva Lee Rhodes Carter, 79, of Buena Vista, died Tuesday, November 21, 2006.

She was born June 1, 1927 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Raymond G. Rhodes and Gracie Branch Rhodes.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow W. Carter; a son, Davie (Pee Wee) Carter; three brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by two daughters: Shirley Humphrey and Susie Hawkes and husband, Bill, all of Buena Vista; a son, Wilson Carter and wife, Vivian of Bristol, TN; three sisters: Emma Bowling of Colonial Heights, Gerladine Markham and Izetta Williams, both of Glasgow; two sisters-in-law: Virginia Carter of Buena Vista and Gilbretta Carter of Greenville; grandchildren: Wayne Humphrey, Kim Gromley, Micky Carter, and Jeremy Humphrey; and special friends, Sheila (Shorty) and Rick Crue and Robert and Louise Ogden of Amherst; and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 25, 2006 at the Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. David Bain and the Rev. W. A. Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 24, 2006 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Crematory Service, Buena Vista.
