Freddie Leon Smith, 72, of Buena Vista, died Saturday, November 25, 2006.

He was born July 31, 1934 in Rockbridge County, son of the late Robert M. Smith and Ruth Painter Smith.

Mr. Smith was retired from Georgia Bonded Fibers after 37 years of service.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Graham Smith, Elwood Smith and John Henry Smith; one grandson, Charles Leon Back.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Flint Smith; five daughters: Cindy Thompson of Stuarts Draft, Sharon Rhodes and Teresa Smith, both of Buena Vista, Kathy Garber of Vesuvius, and Kim Pooley of Buena Vista; one son, Lee Smith of Buena Vista; one brother, Marshall Smith of Buena Vista; two sisters: Lois Bartlett of Buena Vista and Mary Lou Leech of Manassas; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens with Rev. Phillip Mace officiating. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.

The Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
