Eugene Buchanan "Buck" Bates, of Rockbridge Baths, died December 2, 2006.
He was born in 1951 in Lexington.
He was a manager for the U.S. Postal Service and during his career, served as postmaster of Millboro, Raphine, Goshen and Rockbridge Baths and was a former manager at radio station WREL in Lexington.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Reames Bates; his son, Joshua Meade Bates and daughter-in-law, Kelly V. Bates, all of Rockbridge Baths; a daughter, Jennifer Quesnel Bates of Portland, Maine; his sister, Roberta Bates Fauber of Rockbridge County.
The family plans a memorial celebration at the New Providence Presbyterian Church in Raphine on Friday, December 8, 2006 at 3 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Rockbridge Area Hospice, P. O. Box 948, Lexington, VA. 24450.
