Harvey "Sonny" Kirby Jr., 60, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at his home in Goshen, Va.

A New Kent County native, he was born on November 16, 1946, to the late Harvey Sweeny Kirby and Olivia Brinkley Kirby of New Kent County.

A former logger, he moved to Goshen where he built his home and lived until his death with his dog, Buddy.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Lynn Kirby and her husband, Jack Groves; two grandchildren: Ozzy Moon Someillan and Ivy Morgan Groves, all of Columbia, N.C.; special friends: David Paul, Les Jones and Elwood Burrows of Barhamsville, Va., and Mark Hood of Manteo, N.C., Woody and Becky, Ron and Sharron, all of Goshen, Va, along with many other close friends and relatives.

A memorial service will be held 5 p.m. Saturday, December 9 at Vincent Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 417 11th St., West Point, Va.
