Burlington Retiree Dies At Age 92

Banner Staton Stinnett, 92, daughter of the late John and Georgia Staton, born April 14, 1914, went away on December 12, 2006 to be with her Lord.

She was predeceased by her husband, Russell F. Stinnett and son, Maynard E. Stinnett.

She retired from Burlington Industries.

Banner was a long time member of the First Brethren Church and was the oldest member. Banner was a giving and loving mother to all of her children. She was always there.

Surviving are three daughters: Hilda Thurston of Roanoke, Doris Mason of Midlothian, and Phyllis Lanier of Lexington; one son, Lewis Stinnett of Lexington; daughter-in-law, Mildred L. Stinnett of Buena Vista; brothers, Raymond and Johnny Staton; sister, Nellie Broughman; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and special friends, Helen Breedlove and Buddy and Wanda Smals.

The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 15, 2006, at the Lomax Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Christian Becker officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Lomax Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Rockbridge Area Hospice or to the American Diabetes Foundation.
