The wife of Homer Harlow Vaughn, now deceased, she was born August 17, 1914 at Frost, West Virginia, where her father, John Sydenstricker was operating a sawmill and lumber camp.

When the area was cut over, her father and mother (Caroline Correll Sydenstricker), bought the farm "Big Survey" in Monroe County, West Virginia. It was the home of Caroline's father, William Lewis Correll. The family lived there until some of the older children were ready for high school.

The farm was traded for a home in Alderson, where her brother, Raymond, and sister, Catherine, finished their schooling and later, Anne finished too. She attended Armstrong Junior College in Alderson and Concord College in Athens, West Virginia.

She married Homer Harlow Vaughn in 1935. Three children were born to them: Gerald Lyle Vaughn, who resides at "Fancy Hill"; John Correll Vaughn of Hickory, NC and Suzanne Pracna, who lives in Cedarpines Park, CA.

She is survived by four grandsons and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Hope Curry Everitt and Catherine Friel; three brothers: Mason, Clair and Raymond. Her husband died in 1994.

She was a member of the Elliotts' Hill Methodist Church in Rockbridge County.

The memorial service will be held in the Johnson Memorial Methodist Church of Alderson, West Virginia, with the Rev. Same Groves officiating. Remains will be interred at the Alderson Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Rockbridge Regional Library where Mrs. Vaughn worked for 27 years.

Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
