Eugene Wilson "E. W." Walker, Jr., 44, husband of Virginia (Jones) Walker, of Greenville, died Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at his residence.

He was born September 12, 1962, in Rockbridge County, a son of Eugene Wilson, Sr., and Ruth Arlene (Groah) Walker of Fairfield.

Mr. Walker was employed by Staunton Nissan Hyundai Subaru.

He was a member of the Staunton Chapter of the Harley Owners Group, and the Eagles. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved his cat, Dingy.

In addition to his wife and parents, family members include a son, Derrike Ethan Walker of Daleville; a brother-in-law, Ken Jones and his wife, Sharon, of Millboro; a sister and brother-in-law, Melanie (Walker) and Larry Taylor of Fairfield; a niece and nephew, Halei and Dawson Taylor; and a number of extended family members.

A funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2006, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Luther Witt. Burial followed in the Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Jimmy Smith, Hubie Hartless, Ken Jones, Greg Deihl, Allen Groah, Gary Ingram, Tim Howdyshell, and Brian Thomas.

The family received friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2006, in the funeral home.
