Mary Ellen Swanson Patterson, 82, of Brownsburg, died December 27, 2006 at the Walton Inn, Walton, West Virginia.

Ellen had been a rsident of Fairfield and Brownsburg, Virginia.

She was born March 4, 1924 in Rockbridge County, the daughter of the late George Wesley and Jane Maria Swanson.

Mrs. Patterson was married to the late Samuel F. Patterson, Jr.

Surviving are a son, Sam Patterson of Sterling, Virginia; a daughter, Susan Smyer of Spencer, West Virginia; two grandchildren and one great grandchild; two sisters: Jean Beard of Harrisonburg and Sue Hotinger of Lexington; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the New Providence Presbyterian Church, the Night Circle and was a charter member of the Wednesday Club of Brownsburg.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2006 at the New Providence Presbyterian Church with Rev. Christopher Crotwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2006 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
