Barbara Jane Kemper Nicely, age 82, of Bulverde, Texas, and formerly of Clifton Forge, Virginia, died on Saturday, January 10, 2026 in New Braunfels, Texas.

Barbara was born on October 30, 1943 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Harry G. and Effie Lane Tucker Kemper.

She was a retired seamstress for American Awning in West Palm Beach, Florida.

She was a member of Highland Chapel and enjoyed playing cards and other games. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandson, Joshua.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mark David Nicely; two sisters, Joyce Campbell and Rachael Cochran; and four brothers, Johnny Kemper, Linwood Kemper, Larry Kemper, and Vernon Kemper.

She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Nicole Nicely of New Braunfels, TX; her son, Derk Allen Nicely (Lisa) of Palm Beach, FL; a sister, Betty Angle of Vinton; a sister-in-law, Mary Kemper of Texas; a grandson, Joshua Mark Nicely of Texas; a step grandson, Adam Sheetz; and a number of nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Pastor Brandon Nicely officiating. Interment will follow in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge. The family will visit with friends on Thursday morning, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
