Clifton Forge Resident, Retired Registered Nurse and Central United Methodist Church Member, Dies At Age 90

Dallas Faye Sutherland Dobbs, age 90, of 912 Rose Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at The Brian Center Health and Rehab, Low Moor.

Dallas was born on October 18, 1935 in Rupert, West Virginia, to the late Marcus Henry and Lucy Gertrue McClung Sutherland.

She was a retired Registered Nurse who received her nursing diploma in 1957 from the Chesapeake and Ohio School of Nursing. Her career spanned over fifty years as a pediatric and emergency room nurse for the former C & O Hospital and Alleghany Regional Hospital. She also served as a school nurse for the Covington City Schools. She attended Central United Methodist Church and was a member of the Red Hat Belles and the Retired Nurses Association. She enjoyed her water aerobics class at the YMCA and quilting, but especially loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Dallas was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, George Edward Dobbs in 2018, and two brothers, Marcus "Buck" Sutherland and Denver Sutherland.

She is survived by two daughters, Debra Ann Fleshman of Richmond and Jo Ellen Condon (Doug) of Annapolis, MD; three sons, George "Corky" Dobbs, Jr. (Susan) of Richmond, and Donald Mark Dobbs and Glen Dale Dobbs (Trish), both of Clifton Forge; a sister, Barbara S. Jones of Hines, WV; eight grandchildren, Amanda Fleshman, Erica Dobbs, Courtney Dobbs, Laura Dobbs, Gabrielle Dobbs Storz (Neil), Ivan Dobbs, Jessica Mann White, and Justin Dobbs; six great-grandchildren, Michael Kaloustian, Zachary Kaloustian, Kaia Wills, Peyton Wills, Landon White and Kit Storz; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Virgil Woodie officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be Corky, Mark, and Glen Dobbs, Ivan Dobbs, and Michael and Zach Kaloustian. The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Nicely Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Dallas’ memory to the Clifton Forge School of the Arts, the Clifton Forge Public Library, or to the Sharon Baptist Church, P. O. Box 227, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
