Obituary for Nancy Reid Seay Nancy Reid Seay
Covington Resident, Former DSLCC Secretary, Dies At Age 86

Mrs. Nancy Reid Seay, age 86, of Covington, Virginia, died Thursday, January 15, 2026, at her residence. She was the wife of Bertrand (Bert) Raymond Seay.

Mrs. Seay was born September 1, 1939 in Waynesboro, the daughter of the late John Sylvester Reid and Frances Scruggs Reid.

She was a graduate of Covington High School, Class of 1957.

Nancy had been employed as a secretary for the former Dabney S. Lancaster Community College (DSLCC) for a number of years before her retirement.

Mrs. Seay was a longtime and active member of Edgemont Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. She served her church as a member of Women's Sunday school and a former deacon.

In addition to her husband, Bert, Mrs. Seay is survived by a son, John Darren Seay and wife, Pam of Covington; a grandson, Brandon William Seay; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins; and beloved granddog, Hank.

In addition to her parents, John and Frances Reid, Mrs. Seay was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry (Sonny) Reid and Johnny Sylvester Reid.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Connections Plus Hospice for their compassion and care as well as the many wonderful private sitters that helped with Nancy's care.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. James McDougal and Rev. Steve Tremblay officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday afternoon from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.
